How is the Council Trying to Expand?
Since the Council was created in 1991, it has diligently
strived to obtain more funding for direct services to deaf and hard-of-hearing
citizens. As part of this effort, we recently conducted a study that
analyzed the funding and staffing levels of all state agencies for the Deaf/HH
with populations between one and 2.6 million.
The goal of the study was to determine how Idaho compares to
other states and to find ways in which we can increase services. We found
that Idaho's Council is among the lowest funded and staffed.
These data will be used to request more funding so that we can
do a better job of serving you.
